The reasons for losing weight vary across the board. For Jessica Bowles, 21, of Sanford, NC, it was to fulfill a life-long dream of serving her country by joining the military. But, at 183 pounds, she knew she wouldn’t be able to pass the physical requirements or be strong enough for the strenuous training of boot camp.
So, she made a choice. She went to her local NUTRISHOP® store and asked for help. The owner, Steve Dinkins, and his business partner talked extensively with her about her goals and put her on an easy-to-follow meal plan in January 2019. She dropped 9% body fat, 19 pounds of actual fat, gained 6 pounds of lean muscle, and lost 9 inches around her waist! She has gone from a size 13 to a size 7.
“I had no idea where to start with nutrition, and the meal plan helped me tremendously,” Jessica said. “I feel so much better. I used to be exhausted 24/7, and my skin would break out bad. When I started working out and eating healthy, all of that went away! I’m like the energizer bunny now!”
Jessica was sworn into the U.S. Navy in July 2019 with plans to ship off to boot camp in February.
“I’ve worked super hard to get where I am now, and the employees at Nutrishop have always been super helpful and encouraging. Looking back from where I started, I never thought I’d be where I am now, but I’m here, and I can only get better!” Jessica said. “My advice to anyone is don’t quit when it gets hard or times are trying, or you don’t feel like you’re progressing. It takes consistency and hard work and, of course, swing by your local Nutrishop!”
Jessica’s transformation story is just one of many coming out of NUTRISHOP® Sanford, NC. Helping people change their lives and their health for the better is why store owner Steve Dinkins got into the nutrition and supplement business.
“I want to help others,” Steve said. “I want to assist and educate people on how to take care of their bodies through proper nutrition. I’m here to help motivate them in any way that I can.”
Update: Jessica transferred to the Air Force Reserves this year so she could finish her bachelor's degree in Homeland Security. She is also finishing up basic law enforcement training so she can work as a deputy sheriff to get experience while finishing college. She has plans to go active duty and hopes to become a K9 handler.
